I reached a point in my life when I felt I had nothing to show for myself and had failed to achieve the life I wanted. After a while, the thought arose that perhaps my life had no meaning anymore. I had been conditioned to do everything on my own all the time and burden others as little as possible or not at all.
The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People are a very important part for me in the Bridle Up Hope program. My most important realization so far is my instructor's words: “Look to the side, you are not alone in this task! The horse is here with you; feel free to pet him while you are riding. You are doing this together.” This can be difficult for me as a perfectionist, but I have started to delegate tasks and prioritize them appropriately. I feel that I no longer need to push myself to the point of burnout to get recognition from people. With the help of the program, my self-confidence and self-esteem have improved, and my tension and stress have decreased. I’m feeling good about myself. I have always returned home feeling calmer after working with the horse, and the habits have become part of my life after each session.
The path I want to follow is becoming clearer, and that’s what I missed the most. This is a goal that I had forgotten over the years, and through all the hard work.
