Finding Understanding

Finding Understanding

Bridle Up Hope felt like the kick I should’ve given myself a long time ago. I knew I needed to do something for myself, and BUH was the perfect environment for me to grow and become better.

Through the careful guidance of my awesome instructor, Hannah, and the insight and direction from the 7 Habits, I found myself not only thinking about how to improve personally but also trying harder for the people around me.

Relating the teachings from each lesson to my everyday life was such an eye-opening experience. I never imagined that working with horses could have such a big impact on my daily choices, but I found myself constantly reflecting on what I had learned and how it applied to every aspect of my life.

Habit 5 – “Seek first to understand, then to be understood” – felt like it was made just for me. I’ve been struggling with feeling misunderstood a lot lately, so this habit stuck with me the most. It helped me try harder to understand others (and my horse!) and to really process things before jumping to conclusions. It’s made me feel like I understand not only myself, but those around me, so much more.

The whole experience kind of forced me to hold a mirror up to my face and re-examine what I truly want out of life—and from myself. Bridle Up Hope helped me find a clearer path for my personal growth and built my confidence in riding and caring for horses at the same time. It was truly wonderful from beginning to end.
