GIRL'S experience

14-week equestrian experience to inspire hope, confidence, and resilience in girls ages 12-21

We are so excited to have you join us on this journey. The things you are about to learn will change your life for the better. You will spend a lot of time with horses and will gain new friends. Just think, years from now you can look back and be reminded of the first time you saddled a horse, the first time you rode bareback, the sweet gestures and neighs that made you feel special, the tired legs, or the ride that made you feel free.

Riding, like life, doesn't have to be perfect to be wonderful. So embrace dirty boots and smelling like a horse. Embrace the challenges life will throw at you. And know that you are capable. You can do hard things. You were built to do hard things. Some horses will test you. Some will teach you. And some will bring out the best in you. We hope you feel special and loved at the barn. And remember, no matter how bad your day is, there is always someone waiting for you at the barn.

Three pillars of the experience

Learning to Ride a Horse

You will learn to ride a horse and learn natural horsemanship through 14, one-hour lessons. You will be getting back to nature and soothing your soul in a saddle. Prior experience with horses is not required.

Learning Life Skills

You will learn The 7 Habits® for Equestrians and apply these habits to your personal life. You will learn about self-awareness, relationship building, and self-renewal through equestrian and other activities such as mindfulness, yoga, and art.

Serving at the Barn

The horses need you. You give back by serving at least one hour each week. This entails feeding the horses, cleaning the stalls, and grooming and caring for the horses. After the 14-week experience, for every 10 hours of service, you earn a free riding lesson. You can continue serving and earning lessons forever.

The whole experience:

14 private riding lessons with the 7 Habits integrated

Professional photo shoot with your horse

Yoga at the Barn classes, which continue after the 14 weeks

Art at the Barn classes

7 Habits books for girl and parents

In-depth 7 Habits Seminars for parents

Advancement Ceremony with other girls at Bridle Up Hope

Daily opportunities to serve at the barn and make friends

What type of experience is this?

Bridle Up Hope is a 14-week Equine-Assisted Learning (EAL) experience taught by mentors and instructors. We teach horsemanship and life skills through The 7 Habits® to inspire hope, confidence, and resilience in your life. We are not a therapy program, residential program, or counseling center.

For whom is this experience?

This experience is for all girls, ages 12 to 21, who are physically able to ride a horse. The experience is designed to help all girls and is especially geared towards those who have struggled with low self-worth, anxiety, depression, abuse, or trauma, or who have simply lost hope.

When can I sign up?

You can sign up whenever you're ready to start. The experience is offered year-round in Alpine, Utah. There is usually a waiting-list, so once you sign up, you may have to wait a few weeks to start.
